Week 9: Summary, The HEAT jacket story!

Going into this project, I never had realized how many tasks, technology, and steps went into creating a new product. When creating an entrepreneurial idea, one must remember there is a lot of marketing and creating, on should always be aware of all new technology and gadgets that revolve around your topic and can help you improve your product and service. Through the weekly lectures of Prof. Rubin I learned to develop my HEAT jacket more and found out ways that would be more convenient, more efficient, more technological, and overall, a better product than what I originally had in mind!
Some of the concepts I learned in class definitely helped me to further my ideas with my project. For example I needed to find a heater small enough to be in a jacket but powerful enough to heat the body to a target temperature and after having the group meeting and getting feedback from my fellow followers and my TA’s I learned that there are some skiing boots that are already on the market that have a rechargeable heater which could be perfect for my jacket, I researched it through the networks. I also learned about more complex ideas, like how RFID could be helpful to my HEAT jacket marketing camping because it is a fast way to find out more information about anything if I do a URL with all the company’s history, story, and purpose!
Over all, I am really grateful and glad I got to do this project. I not only learned about technology but I also learned how to integrated to my every day life and to new project, like me entrepreneurship idea. My personal opinion is that this project was extremely interesting and the most fascinating part is how I was able to take everything learned in class each week and apply it by my own in my own way in my own product, all created by me! The only thing I have left to wonder is whether or not my entrepreneurial idea would actually be a success, what do you guys think!?

Week 8: Networking

For any successful business or enterprise, networking is absolutely necessary because information and communication is essential. Computer networks can put down the barriers between information held on several systems and create a borderless environment to spread knowledge on many topics, that including, fashion with heat ;). By having this networking available, we have the chance to have access to remote programs and databases from other sources and provide information faster to other facilities around the world. I have already used networking by using my blog and sharing all of this with you guys.

In order for my HEAT jacket to run it is necessary to have a website in the Internet so anyone around the world can access it and research it and/or purchase, so by having this network it makes it easier for the browser to be connected to the HEAT jacket and its progress, its advancements, etc. In order for there to be this hyper-text transfer protocol, there is a four step process involved between the client and the web server. First, the browser makes a connection, then it makes a request, then the server send files back, and finally the browser closes the connection.

Also I learned in class that one could buy and sell the domains. A domain is an alias for an IP address. This introduces us to the applicable disputes of domain names! For example, my domain name could be identical or confusingly similar t a trademark or service mark in which the complainant has rights and I would have no rights, hens, my domain name could be registered and be used in bad faith. Than only leads me to share with you guys that that means that after obtaining mine, when I become rich and famous it would probably be a good idea to buy all the similar domains so that people do not get confused with my product and other random stuff in the internet!

This is all very important because without this connection, there would be no way for my HEAT jacket to obtain the demand the costumers worldwide has. Imagine if m jacket reaches Alaska!! That would be awsomee! And it is all through the Internet! It also allows for people to connect with others and be able to share their opinions on the style and the different gadgets, advantages and disadvantages on the HEAT jacket, which makes it all more interactive!

Week 7: Digital Color & Operating Systems

Hey guys! So last week I reviewed a professional blog and I got some new cool and unique ideas I am will be sharing with you guys soon! In other news this week we learned in class about digital color! Once again I share with you my excitement since as a girl and all into fashion I am really worried of how this HEAT jacket is going to come out. What style is it going to be? And what trend?
So for my images of the jacket I am using digital colors! (Obviously because I am going to be sending emails of the different colors I want to the fabric, my consultants, and the marketers as well! I am playing with the saturation and brightness in my colors so that when they are legit fabric they will be appealing to all the customers but in their own unique way! I am still figuring out the hue’s I want for the range of options I have. I love giving images saturation because in my opinion it makes the colors brighter. So guys, give me your opinion! What would be your preference in color for the HEAT jacket! Let me know what color is more practical for an everyday use or just what funky colors you guys would like to purchase a jacket in!! Be creative!
This week in class we also learned about Operating Systems! So to go a little more into depth so you guys understand the Operating Systems manage hardware and software resources, they are like an intermediary between the two (the application and the hardware). We discussed also about the use of phones, which is perfect because I currently own a blackberry, which is an Operating System, so it will be perfect for work! We also learned about the different Open Source Software’s! I use Firefox everyday so that good for me at least with the economy now days! After all this hard work I hope some day my hard work will be recognized just like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs or even Ken Thompson; or my creations be used as much as Windows XP right now! (Even though I would be satisfy with a percentage as high a Linux! haha).
Well guys, as always, take care! Stay fresh! And comment please! Give me feedback! Thanks for reading, yours truly.

Week 6: Professional Blog Review Post

So guys this week instead of talking what we have been learning in class I searched the Internet to obverse other bloggers, their techniques and their ideas! After spending more than an hour surfing the web for the most prominent technology blogs, I was really interested in TechCrunch. It was founded by Michael Arrington in 2005 and reaches 10 million visitors and gets over 33 million page views per month. The purpose of TechCrunch is to "dedicated to obsessively profiling start ups, reviewing new Internet products, and breaking tech news."
The website offers all its users technology news and analysis as well as start up companies, products, and websites, in other words: the site allows for people to view new internet products, websites, news, analysis, and computer hardware. It also has a large network of websites specializing in different topics of the tech market from environmentally friendly technology to mobile technology. At the begging the site was developed to receive information about companies on the rise, and as the site continued growing, they started to show gadgets and other technology start ups. In 2006, TechCrunch became a complete news outlet and Arrington was recognized as one of the World's 100 Most Influential People. Now it is ranked #2 and #1 in the Info/Tech category.
Today TechCrunch has relocated to San Francisco, and is still one of the most influential news brands in the technology industry. On September 28, 2010, at its TechCrunch Disrupt conference in San Francisco AOL announced that it would acquire TechCrunch for $25 million. TechCrunch is now affiliated with several other websites, commonly referred to as The TechCrunch Network. By the looks of it, this blog will continue to be successful in the future and will continue to grow to new heights, while continuing to provide important news.

Week 5: Input and Output

So, we have come such a long way in this project of the HEAT jacket I just can not wait longerr for you guys to try it!! One thing I have my eye on is a new digital camera which will not only help me with advertising and promotion pictures but also I am planning on making a "behind the scence" video of my and all my co-workers to have on tape all of our ideas and crazy moments we have had through out this unbelievable journey. I am going to have to check out the megapixels required for all that activity I am planning on doing with the new camera, also the print sizes and their differences.
Another cool thing I learned about this week was the voice recognition technology Google is working with now, I know it is a long shot but imagine if the jacket would recognize your voice and you could just say the temperature you want and the jacket would adjust it to your preferences, that would be awsome!! but lets not get ahead of ourselves I am still working on designing the first rough product! Also a new gadget I have my eye on is the RFID tags!! RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification. They are like a automatic kind of barcode but even more accurate, they have a unique item level, they do not require the line of sight, they can scan multiple items, and they have a data storage up to several kBs!!! For advertising that would be awesome, like in the winter to have them in the bus stops or even in classrooms and the libraries, so people can scan it and learn what HEAT jackets are all about!! Plus they are cheap!!
So guys all the things I have been learning in ITS are paying of and hopefully you will be able to enjoy all these advantages soon! I just finished playing with Photo-Shop where I could try to make a prototype of what I want it to look like and maybe even get your guys feedback!! so stay tuned to HEAT jackets because only great things are coming your way!! Give me feedback about how it is going so far and how I can improve my idea!! I will keep updating you guys week by week!! take care!

Week 4: Input and Outputs

So as I keep developing my ideas I keep learning of more new cool and useful things in my ITS class :D! This weeks lecture was about inputs and outputs. We learned about digital cameras and how the system of the megapixels work! I am planing on getting one with the most mega pixels I can afford so the detail of our jacket can be exposed clearly and our marketing campaigns and visual publicity goes off with out a hitch! And we also learned about this new technology of Radio Frequency Identification which is a great way of giving feedback to the interested future costumers.

So as I keep learning the RFID is an Automatic Identification Technology with (Auto-ID) that transmits the identity of an object or person wirelessly using radio waves. And RFID tags being so cheap I am planning on using them for my marketing campaign for my HEAT jacket! Even though since RFID is still a developing technology it has some disadvantages but I still consider it better than the bardcode :S, we just have to be sure to keep it away from metal so it does not interfere with the scanning of the RFID tags!!!

I am so excited to keep learning about technology and applying it to my idea. Every week I see how it gets more real and bigger!! Who knows? Maybe it could even end up with voice recognition like Google is trying to do. I might feel the idea of an integrated MP3 or phone coming this way!! stay tuned guys because this will only be getting better and better!!!

Week 3: My Work Computer

So guys, this week I learned so much about how to make computer and the importance of their functions. I am going get a new computer to work on my HEAT jacket project and I am so excited! So as I learned each little part has a important function and they complement each other. Starting with the Motherboard since it is the 'hub' of the computer it is where everything else plugs into. I need to get one that is compatible with my my processor and memory. After I need to worry about my Memory since I am going to have so many information in that computer and I am going to be running so many different programs at the same time I am going to need speed for work so then I need a big memory, or RAM.

I am excited to get the Graphics Cards since I can not wait to design the first model of the jacket, pick out the color and just see a concrete version of my idea. I want high performance 3D graphics so I am going to get a fast GPU. The optical drive I have me eye on is the Blue-Ray. The Hard Disk Drive is so important since that is where the data in the computer is going to be stored when it is not in use by the processor and unlike the Memory the HDD saves the information even when the computer is turned off, so all my programs, documents, photos, videos and music will be stored there. Last technical decision to make for my new computer is the Power Supply Unit which I am planing on spending money since it has to be a good quality one since if it fails it can make other features fail as well and one with good circuitry to prevent damage to the rest of the components. After putting so much head into the functions of the computer I am excited to pick out the case. Even though I am more of a simple girls I want it to be cool and modern, I just need to make sure it is compatible with the air space, the Motherboard and all that stuff :).

I am so excited to keep on going with this process, it is amazing how a simple idea with hard work has turned into so much. I am so anxious to be able to actually see the products image thanks to my new computer which will let me work more effectively and faster! Well guys hope you learned a little bit about what is under that keyboard of your computer, and hopefully soon I will talk more about the graphics and the designs idea. Stick around because this is about to get better!
